Review of Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Snow Crash was recommended to me and I'm glad that I read it. It is a quirky book. It's fresh and the characters are young. Y.T. is 15 years old. I get the impression that several of the other characters are in their twenties or even younger. This gives a refreshing perspective on the strange events that take place both inside and outside of the Metaverse.
The characters were refreshing and interesting and had plenty of quirks and oddities to spice up the storyline. There was some good action, and many good technologies were introduced.
The society in which these people live and function certainly adds to the depth of the story, and there is often a humorous angle to how the story pans out.
Snow Crash is a great read. In the middle there are a couple of chapters that really drill the reader with the history of religion and language. This part was overbearing for me, but I skipped through it and the rest of the book was a a breath of fresh air.
This is a great book. Highly recommended!
