When I first read this book I was immediately drawn into the rich and detailed story, and fascinated by the main character who was both flawed and impressive in equal measures.
It has been many years since I first read this book but I will never forget Thomas 'Don't touch me' Covenant and his complex internal and external struggles.
It was characters like this that inspired me to start my own writing career. Thomas is a powerful character because of his failures and contradictions as much as his strength. His memory lives on long after the story has ended, and that ultimately brought me to see just how strong fictional characters can be when shaped by skilled hands.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys rich, detailed fantasy worlds with complex, intentionally flawed characters.
